Mets & Matt Harvey agree to deal

By Gem Tablak

Mets & their “Dark Knight” Matt Harvey have agreed to a one year deal to avoid arbitration. He joins fellow starters Zack Wheeler & Jacob deGrom in avoiding arbitrary court.

Harvey had an extremely rough season, just going 4-10 before he had to cut his season short due to the shoulder condition Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Even though he had an ERA of 4.86 last season, his career ERA is still sitting at a very modest 2.94 over 519.2 innings & striking out 525 batters over that span.

The deal is worth $5.125M & just like deGrom, Harvey’s contract contains performance bonuses.
