MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo has tweeted that the Mets have issued Neil Walker the Qualifying Offer of $17.2M.
The Mets traded Jon Niese for Walker last offseason & the move clearly payed off as Walker went yard 23 times with a .282/.347/.476 line. It will be interesting to see if Walker accepts this offer as he recovers from back surgery that required him to miss the rest of his season in August. He has the option to cash in while proving to the Mets & other teams that he deserves a long term deal after his 2017 season.
