Mets acquire Fernando Salas

By Gem Tablak

Late last night as the Mets were wrapping up their game vs the Marlins, the team had announced that they had completed a trade with the Angels to bring in reliver Fernando Salas.

In return, the Angels will receive Mets single A pitcher Erik Manoah. The Mets will also have to transfer Justin Ruggiano to the 60-day DL to free up a spot on their 40 roster. Ruggiano only played 8 games as a Met & went on the DL twice but was solid in CF while batting .350/.409/.650 in his limited times in a Mets uniform.

This season, Salas is 3-6 with a 4.47 ERA in 56.1 innings while only striking out 45, however since the All Star Break, Salas has been rocking a 2.93 ERA & that’s a positive trend. He should be slated to come into the games in the 6th & 7th innings.
