Mike Puma of of The New York Post reports that the team feels another relief arm is its top priority at come the trading deadline.
Puma lists Ryan Butcher & Brad Hand of Padres, Chris Withrow of the Braves, John Axford of the A’s, & probably the most expensive of them all in terms of who the Mets would have to give up, Jeremy Jeffers of the Brewers.
I’m all for going out there & getting the help like we did last season but I wouldn’t want the team to acquire a reliever that has a contract that extends into the next season. For one, the less controllability a player has, the less we can give a team in return, however that all depends on the talent the Mets try to acquire.
