Mets 1st round Draft Pick debuted today & goes scoreless

By Gem Tablak

As advertised, the Mets 19th pick in the 1st round of the 2016 draft debuted on Monday, the 4th of July. Justin Dunn was assigned to the Brooklyn Cyclones to start his professional career in baseball & he shouldn’t be feeling too far from home as he is a native of Long Island.

On Monday, the Cyclones got off to an early lead thanks to the Brooklyn SS Colby Woodmansee’s HR in the 3rd to make it 4-0, early. By the time Cyclones pitcher Merandy Gonzalez exited the game after the 7th inning, the team had a 5-0 lead & it was a perfect opportunity to bring in the highly anticipated pitcher, Justin Dunn.

Dunn closed out the game pitching the 8th & 9th giving up 2 hits but he didn’t walk a batter & he struck out 2. There’s no word on how the Mets plan to use Dunn in Brooklyn the rest of this season, they very well may work him out of the bull pen till the 2017 season.
