On Wednesday night the Mets suffered another disappointing loss which resulted in them getting swept by the Nationals in D.C. which now puts them 6 games back in the division.
However one glimmer of good news is that the Mets in Binghamton had a line up that features Jose Reyes leading off & Juan Lagares batting second. Reyes went 1-4 with 2 RBI’s as he finally collects his first hit in the Mets organization & also scored a run, Reyes’ RBI came on a sacrifice fly.
As far as Juan Lagares, he went 2-6 with 2 RBI’s & a triple on the evening. This is Lagares’ second game back with Binghamton since he originally hurt his thumb while making a spectacular diving grab as we’re accustomed to seeing by Lagares. In Binghamton now, he has 3 hits in his 10 AB’s & both of these men are slated to rejoin the Mets in Queens soon & hopefully that will provide a much needed spark the Mets are desperately seeking.
A few other names to look out for on the Binghamton team like Amed Rosario went 1-4 with a double, RBI & 2 runs scored. Dominic Smith went 3-6 with 2 doubles, an RBI & two runs scored & L.J. Mazzilli who may find himself battling out Dilson Herrera & Wilmer Flores next spring for some time at 2nd base went 2-4 with 2 runs scored & 2 RBI’s as well as his 9th double on the season.
