Mets select Anthony Kay with the 31st pick of the 2016 Draft.

By Gem Tablak

Kay a LHP out of the university of Connecticut with a Fastball at around 95 MPH is originally from Stony Brook, NY & was previously drafted in 2013 by the Mets as well. Kay went to high school with Mets phenom, Steven Matz. The Mets were able to draft Kay with the Daniel Murphy compensation pick. In his last season, Kay went 9-2 with a 2.65 ERA in 17 starts & he also holds UConns record for K’s with 263. Dan O’Dowd threw out the comp of Mark Beuhrle in a best case scenario but if he’s throwing 95 MPH, he already has that advantage. The Mets need to find out if he’s a thrower or a pitcher.
