Mets trade for a familiar face.

Early on Wednesday, the Mets had made a trade with the Atlanta Braves for Kelly Johnson… Again. Last season the Mets had made a trade for Kelly Johnson & Juan Uribe for extra protection on the bench. It certainly helped as the Mets made their way to the World Series for the first time since the year 2000.

During the off season, Kelly decided to return to the Braves for a 3rd time as he inked a deal with Atlanta. In 121 AB’s this season, Kelly is sporting a .215 average with 1 homerun & 10 RBI’s. He was traded for young Mets prospect, Akeel Morris. Akeel Morris was originally ranked pretty high in the Mets farm system but recently had his stock drop in prospect status in the last year or so.

This season Morris was in AA Binghamton where he had a record of 2-2 with a 4.62 ERA. In 25.1 innings pitched, Morris has 36 strike outs while notching 6 saves under his belt. The Braves have been in complete rebuild mode so this move comes to no surprise & while Hart & Alderson pulled off trades in the past, this move seems to replicate last years trade with Atlanta. A move to bolster the Mets anemic bench.
